Each scene in the background has its own lighting, whilst the central figures of Mary & Jesus have top lighting.
CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Jesus & his mother Mary.
In the background scenes: Joseph, Mary, Jesus, Shepherds & angels, & residents of Bethlehem.
RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
I have decided to use seven of the other scenes in this SET 02, to show Mary pondering the things she has recently encountered: the birth of her baby, Joseph her husband, their journey from Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem, the manger, the shepherds, etc. Mary & Jesus are the central figures in this composite scene. I decided to have Mary’s eyes focused on the scene top left, showing her with Jesus & Joseph in the cave.
I have added a feint white “glow” around the central figures of Mary & Jesus to separate them from the complex scenes surrounding them in the background.
