Genesis 40:20-23 (NLT)
20 Pharaoh’s birthday came three days later, and he prepared a banquet for all his officials and staff. He summoned [1] his chief cup-bearer and chief baker to join the other officials. 21 He then restored the chief cup-bearer to his former position, so he could again hand Pharaoh his cup. 22 But Pharaoh impaled the chief baker, just as Joseph had predicted when he interpreted his dream. 23 Pharaoh’s chief cup-bearer, however, forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought.

Unspecified in the Bible narrative. I have set this scene near mid day.

LIGHTING NOTES:
The sun illuminates this scene. It is high in the sky above the buildings & figures, casting shadows below them.

CHARACTERS PRESENT:
The king of Egypt (Pharaoh) is the figure in pale robes & a red sash. The cup-bearer of the story is the man in green, kneeling subserviently to Pharaoh’s right, offering him a golden cup of wine.
The baker of this story is the man trembling with fear on the right, in brown prison garb.
Two green robed spear-holding guards are gripping the baker.
An executioner (in grey clothes & hooded) holds a sharp wooden stake.
Behind the main figures are three women courtiers, each holding a gold wrapped present for Pharaoh.

RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
I decided to set this scene outside, among the stone carved Pharaoh’s that adorn some private courtyard of the current king of Egypt. We see the king having restored the cup-bearer back to his royal court position (complete with new clothes, not prison garb!) but pointing disdainfully at the baker. The king is ordering the executioner (in hood & holding a sharpened wooden stake) to impale the baker.

Behind the baker & king are three women courtiers, each holding a gold-wrapped present to celebrate the king’s birthday.
