Exodus 14:26-27 (ANIV)
26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” 27 Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing towards it, and the Lord swept them into the sea.
DRAWING NOTES:
TIME OF DAY:
Verse 27 tells us that the scene is set at dawn. The sun is rising behind the mountains in the back ground.
LIGHTING NOTES:
As in the previous scene, the dim, blue light of the moon & stars light this scene, with slightly stronger, dawn yellow/white sunlight beginning to illuminating the scene. You can see the sunlight reflected on some of the sea waves & on a few of the Egyptians in the foreground.
CHARACTERS PRESENT:
Moses (holding staff, standing on a rock in the background, surrounded by the Hebrew people who have safely passed through the towering walls of water.
Egyptian charioteers & soldiers, with three confused looking horses!
RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This scene uses all the colours & tones I’ve used in the previous scenes, to show the walls of sea water on either side of the Egyptian soldiers. I’ve added some subtle greens into the sea water, rather than just keeping the blue hues. That reflects the fact that the sun is adding light (& hence colour) to the whole scene.
