Volcanoes, dust, ash & the helping hand of the Lord God from heaven

Posted 06 Jun 2014

Just finished colouring up this scene. I hadn’t intended drawing this at all. On 3rd June 2014 I read Psalm 113 & the idea just plopped into my head! I felt compelled to draw & colour the scene, even though I have other drawings I am keen to complete! lt must be a God-inspired thing!

You would think I am feeling down in the dumps if you look at the sombre colours & state of the figure in the picture! But actually I am happy & glad to be drawing.

The relevant verse is 7, which reads “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;”

Psalm 113 - Dust and ash
Psalm 113 – Dust & ash

Psalms 113:1-9 (ANIV)
Praise the Lord.

Praise, O servants of the Lord,
praise the name of the Lord.
Let the name of the Lord be praised,
Let the name of the Lord be praised,
both now and for evermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.

The Lord is exalted over all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.
Who is like the Lord our God,
the One who sits enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
on the heavens and the earth?

He raises the poor from the dust
and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes,
with the princes of their people.
He settles the barren woman in her home
as a happy mother of children.

Praise the Lord.
