RESEARCH/ADDITIONAL NOTES:
This scene shows Moses burying an Egyptian in the sand near some scaffolding & building work. I decided against showing Moses throttling or hitting the Egyptian, & preferred instead to depict the scene after the murder. We can see Moses using a square shovel to pour sand over the dead man’s body. You can just see a hand sticking out of the sand at Moses’ feet!
Notice there is a figure in the distance. We know from verse 13-14 that Moses’ murderous actions must have been witnessed, which causes him to then flee from Egypt.
I decided to include some dark silhouetted scaffolding in the foreground, which acts to frame the figure of Moses in strong horizontal & vertical lines.
